Hi, I’m Liz Sweet, the founder of Connected Speaking. I help professionals develop more confidence in their voice and leadership.

For a long time, my own fear of rejection made it hard to show up confidently in groups.
Leading training for nonprofits and funders for over a decade, I received positive feedback but would get anxious weeks ahead of time. I felt an intense need to perfect and perform to feel safe.
In larger meetings my heart pounded when I thought about asking a question. Worried I didn’t have quite the right thing to say, I often stayed silent.
As I transitioned into philanthropic advising, I thrived in one-on-one engagements with clients but still found it challenging to speak in groups.
In 2017 I decided to get support and discovered a transformative approach to authentic, presence-based communication that finally helped me feel comfortable in my skin.
I learned that though it’s not easy, it is possible to move through discomfort to drop the mask and embrace who you are - to share your ideas; connect to create real change; and find deeper fulfillment.

I now partner with organizations that want their team members to have access to communication training that builds sustainable confidence and skills - strengthening their leaders, teams, and organization as a whole.
My diverse career spans advising billion-dollar family foundations, business development roles across industries, partnering with ministries of education and advocating at the United Nations, facilitating sessions with thought leaders like Michael Pollan for donor education programs, and teaching yoga (where you can find me every Monday afternoon at my local studio). At the core of all my work are the values of justice, fostering deeper connections, and empowering leaders.
Coaching Expertise
As a coach, I help social sector leaders achieve greater fulfillment and impact in their work. I completed professional coach training with the CoActive Training Institute and leverage a decade of experience as a trusted advisor to family and individual funders to help my clients achieve their goals. At the philanthropic consulting firm Arabella Advisors, I provided internal coaching to director and managing director level staff on business development and client service.
